Nikakoi + Tusia Beridze - In Concert
|
|
Friday 03rd of April 2009 02:57:35 PM |
|
Line Up: Dj Metro Nikakoi + Tusia Beridze (Goslab/Georgia//Max.Ernst/Germany) - In Concert DJ Lenique(Traumpunkt)
VJ Kolika - The first show in Israel since 2005
Sound by Double Pressure
Entrance: 40 nis
Nika Machaidze (Nikakoi, Erast) is a film director and an electronic musician. Nikakoi is sentimental, dangerous, beatific, and in pain...Nikakoi means "Nobody" in Russian...and Nikakoi is from Georgia, the former USSR state. He carves out deft manipulations of d 'n' b breakbeats through light percussion and piano, listening odes to quiet summers, overheated with whispered male and female lyrics in both English and Russian, interspersed with toybox field recordings and a superbly crafted vision of sound. At times moving away from beats completely, Nikakoi plays with repetitions of plucked strings and tones that mimic children's music boxes, turning the circular turns of the music box to linear permutations of repetition, a little mad, a little sad, a little on the edge in his "house of music."
Nikakoi is now recording at "Laboratoryinstinct" - German label based in Berlin. The new double-albom "Requiem for Deranged Robot" will be released in June 2009.
Nikakoi is also a member of the Goslab group. Goslab, an artistic Georgian network that deals with different kinds of media such as film, video, art and music http://www.last.fm/music/Nikakoi http://www.last.fm/music/erast http://www.myspace.com/nikamachaidze
Natalie Beridze, also known as Tusia Beridze or TBA, is a female music producer from Tbilisi, Georgia. She is also a member of Goslab - a Georgian art laboratory, where she creates video art. She has been literally holed up in a bunker-based studio in the former Soviet republic of Georgia making evocative, often heartbreaking glitchy techno. With three previous, critically-acclaimed albums on Thomas Brinkmann’s Max.Ernst label, Beridze has once again eclipsed her own best work on her most dazzling recording to date, The Other. Beridze’s experimental textures, which recall Aphex Twin, Seefeel, and Thomas Fehlmann, are tempered by superb pop melodies. “Into Lost Moments” sounds as fresh as early O.M.D. or Depeche Mode tracks, as soft, clicky electro-rhythms bloom into a darkly emotional ballad. With The Other, Tusia Beridze steps into the spotlight with more acclaim for her equally engaging production and vocal talents. Tusia has worked with Thomas Brinkmann, Wechsel Garland and Post Industrial Boys, who have used Tusia’s vocals and lyrics in most of their songs. http://www.last.fm/music/TBA http://www.last.fm/music/Tusia+Beridze http://www.myspace.com/tusiaberidze

Radio Trip - Music Heads
|
|
Wednesday 01st of April 2009 04:24:40 PM |
|
Music Heads is the studio album project from two founder members of the funk outfit The Apples, MixMonster (Uri Wertheim) and Schoolmaster (Ofer Tal).
The Tel Aviv based producers, cut & paste artists and keen vinyl junkies are well known radio DJ’s in their home country.
Their wide range of influences led them to create a unique musical blend unconstrained by anything except their imaginations. Music Heads is the second album from Radio Trip a project that preceded the international fame of the Apples.
Already released in Israel the album came to the attention of Jalapeno label boss Trevor Mac who knew he had found something special. “There are probably some really big legal issues involved in releasing this album – so I’ve stopped taking calls from my lawyer in case he talks me out of it. It’s too good to start messing around with replays and there’s just so many samples it would be impossible so we’re just putting it out as is and seeing who comes knocking”
This album "Music Heads" contains elements of Turntabalism, blues, jazzed-up breaks, Funk beats and psychedelic samples – a journey into vinyl culture with hundreds of records from various countries and eras cut & paste into one blossoming, cheerful trip.

Pecha Kucha Night In Tel Aviv!
|
|
Tuesday 24th of March 2009 04:18:46 PM |
|
Pecha Kucha Night, devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture), was conceived in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.
But as we all know, give a mike to a designer (especially an architect) and you’ll be trapped for hours. The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its patented system for avoiding this fate. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.
Pecha Kucha (which is Japanese for the sound of conversation) has tapped into a demand for a forum in which creative work can be easily and informally shown, without having to rent a gallery or chat up a magazine editor. This is a† demand that seems to be global – as Pecha Kucha Night, without any pushing, has spread virally to over 100 cities across the world. Find a location and join the conversation.
The 6th Israeli Pech Kucha will be hosting:
Kutiman Pilpeled D.r Amiki Sold Didi Vardy Yonatan Konda Guy Sagi Duprass Ram Matza D.r Yossi Kori
Check more info in hebrew in:
http://www.pechakuchatlv.com/
The Israeli Pecha Kucha will take place in 1/4/09 At "Hanger 11" , The Tel Aviv port. Ticket costs: 20 N.I.S
